Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects Click here for help
Iloperidone is a bifunctional drug, antagonising dopamine receptors and serotonin 5-HT receptors, with higher efficacy at the dopanine receptor compared to the serotonin receptors. Such action classifies this drug as an atypical antipsychotic. Inhibition of these receptors leads to an improvement in the psychotic symptoms experienced by schizophrenia patients.
