Perphenazine is an antipsychotic used to treat schizophrenia. Also used for the management of severe nausea and vomiting in adults.

Antipsychotic action arises from antagonism of neuronal dopamine D1/D2 receptors. But also has affinity for 5-HT2A , D3, D4 and histamine H1 receptors. Antagonism of dopamine D2 receptors in the vomiting centre and chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) leads to the antiemetic effect of this drug.
