Immunopharmacology Comments
CCL17 is constitutively expressed in thymus. It acts via the G protein-coupled chemokine receptor CCR4 and induces T cell chemotaxis.
CCL17 has been identified as a novel molecular target whose blockade offers clinical potential as a mechanism to treat both the pain and pathology associated with osteoarthritis [2]. Glaxo Smith Kline have a CCL17 inhibitor (GSK3858279) in their development pipeline which has been advanced to Phase 1 evaluation (see NCT03485365), although the nature of this agent has not been formally disclosed (July 2019).
