Immunopharmacology Comments
IL-37 is an IL-1 family cytokine. It is anti-inflammatory. It can activate the interleukin-18 receptor. IL-37 is a key inhibitor of innate immunity, that is involved in mitigating inflammation triggered by TLR ligands and cytokines [2], and is an important suppressor of joint and systemic inflammation, the latter activity suggesting potential for using recombinant IL-37 as an anti-arthritic therapy [1].
