Compound class:
Endogenous peptide in human, mouse or rat
Comment: Neuroligin 1 is a postsynaptic, single-pass neuronal cell surface protein. It interacts with presynaptically expressed neurexins to stabilise synapses.
Species: Human

Bioactivity Comments |
Neuroligin-1 has been identified as one of a set of five ligands whose activity at their receptors contribute to cell-cell communication during human astrocyte development [2]. The other four ligands are TGFβ2, thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), Dickkopf 1 (DKK1) and BMP-4. The black widow spider venom α-latrotoxin is thought to disrupt neuroligin/neurexin binding across synapses, and to contribute to toxin-induced neurotransmitter release [1]. |
