Synonyms: Neumega®
Approved drug Immunopharmacology Ligand
oprelvekin is an approved drug (FDA (1997))
Compound class: Peptide
Comment: This is a non-glycosylated, recombinant form of human IL-11 produced in E.coli. Oprelvekin is one amino acid shorter than the endogenous peptide, lacking the amino-terminal proline residue.
Bioactivity Comments
Recombinant human IL-11 promotes cellular proliferation of Ba/F3 cells exogenously expressing IL-11 receptors, with an EC50 value of 2.5ng/mL [2], so it would be expected that oprelvekin would have similar activity.
