![]() Ligand Activity Visualisation ChartsThese are box plot that provide a unique visualisation, summarising all the activity data for a ligand taken from ChEMBL and GtoPdb across multiple targets and species. Click on a plot to see the median, interquartile range, low and high data points. A value of zero indicates that no data are available. A separate chart is created for each target, and where possible the algorithm tries to merge ChEMBL and GtoPdb targets by matching them on name and UniProt accession, for each available species. However, please note that inconsistency in naming of targets may lead to data for the same target being reported across multiple charts. ✖ |

Summary of Clinical Use ![]() |
Camicinal was assessed in clinical trials as a treatment for delayed gastric emptying (gastroparesis). Click here to link to ClinicalTrials.gov's full list of camicinal trials. It did not appear to progress beyond Phase 2 despite evidence that it accelerated gastric emptying and increased glucose absorption in target patients [2]. |
Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects ![]() |
Gastroparesis can occur when the vagus nerve (which controls stomach contractions) or muscles of the stomach and intestines fail to function normally. This slows or stops gastro-intestinal transit in the digestive tract. Gastroparesis can be the result of autonomic neuropathy which is associated with diabetes, Parkinson's disease and other diseases, or as a result of abdominal surgery. Camicinal-induced activation of the motilin receptor stimulates contraction of gut smoooth muscle, to improve gut motility [1,3]. |
