Inhibitor Comments
Denileukin diftitox is an immunotoxic inhibitor of EEF2 (elongation factor 2). EEF2 is the primary target of the diptheria toxin [2,4] liberated upon intracellular processing of the endocytically internalised drug [3]. Denileukin diftitox inhibits protein synthesis in IL-2 receptor +ve cells (human C91/PL T cells) with an IC50 of 0.01nM [1] but protein synthesis is not inhibited in IL-2 receptor -ve cells in the same study.
