Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects ![]() |
Tafluprost is a fluoridated analogue of prostaglandin F2α and as such is a selective FP receptor agonist [1], although note that tafluprost acid is the active metabolite. The tafluprost ester facilitates corneal penetration and allows delivery of the active carboxylic acid form to the aqueous humour . It is believed that tafluprost acid increases outflow of aqueous humour from the eye, thereby reducing intraocular pressure and relieving the symptoms of glaucoma. |
