When an agonist binds to and activates the glucocorticoid receptor, the activated receptor complex translocates to the nucleus where it transactivates glucocorticoid response element (GRE) containing genes. The effect of glucocorticoid action is to up-regulate expression of anti-inflammatory proteins and to suppress activity of pro-inflammatory proteins, leading to a general suppression of the immune system. However, we have been unable to find affinity data for this drug to substantiate this MMOA.
