Danofloxacin mesylate is licensed for veterinary use by the US FDA (under the trade name Advocin®). It is administered by intramuscular or intravenous injection and indicated for the control and treatment of bovine respiratory disease (BRD) associated with Mannheimia haemolytica and Pasteurella multocida in beef cattle. Danofloxacin mesylate is also licensed in Germany (Advocid®) for use in cattle and pigs.
