Bioactivity Comments
Ceftiofur is rapidly metabolized to desfuroylceftiofur in vivo (PubChem CID 9576866). A study evaluating the in vitro antibacterial activity of ceftiofur and its primary metabolite against isolates from veterinary sources, including common respiratory tract pathogens, found equivalent MIC values against the Gram-negative isolates but reduced activity of desfuroylceftiofur against Gram-positive staphylococci and streptococci [1].
