Synonyms: fibroblast growth factor 19
Compound class:
Endogenous peptide in human, mouse or rat
Comment: FGF-19 is a fibroblast growth factor that mediates a wide range of mitogenic and cell survival activities. It is one of the endogenous ligands for fibroblast growth factor receptor 4 (FGFR4) [2]. FGF-19 is a major player in the gut-liver axis that maintains bile acid homeostasis, its expression is induced in the liver under cholestatic and cirrhotic conditions, and it is implicated in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Species: Human
![]() Ligand Activity Visualisation ChartsThese are box plot that provide a unique visualisation, summarising all the activity data for a ligand taken from ChEMBL and GtoPdb across multiple targets and species. Click on a plot to see the median, interquartile range, low and high data points. A value of zero indicates that no data are available. A separate chart is created for each target, and where possible the algorithm tries to merge ChEMBL and GtoPdb targets by matching them on name and UniProt accession, for each available species. However, please note that inconsistency in naming of targets may lead to data for the same target being reported across multiple charts. ✖ |
Bioactivity Comments |
Although FGFR4 can bind several FGFs, FGF-19 interacts only with FGFR4 [2]. Klotho-β (KLB) is required for the FGF-19-FGFR4 interaction. |
