Compound class:
Synthetic organic
Comment: Compound 5b is a hybrid molecule that contains carbonic anhydrase inhibitor compound 5a [PMID: 31287314], attached to a carbon monoxide (CO) releasing molecule (CORM) [1].
![]() Ligand Activity Visualisation ChartsThese are box plot that provide a unique visualisation, summarising all the activity data for a ligand taken from ChEMBL and GtoPdb across multiple targets and species. Click on a plot to see the median, interquartile range, low and high data points. A value of zero indicates that no data are available. A separate chart is created for each target, and where possible the algorithm tries to merge ChEMBL and GtoPdb targets by matching them on name and UniProt accession, for each available species. However, please note that inconsistency in naming of targets may lead to data for the same target being reported across multiple charts. ✖ |

Immunopharmacology Comments |
Hybrid CA inhibitor/CORM compounds are predicted to facilitate site-targeted delivery to tissues where specific CAs are overexpressed or are overactive. Molecules such as 5b are designed to deliver the gasotransmitter CO to sites of inflammation, where its anti-inflammatory actions can bring about a reduction in disease symptoms. Compound 5b has demonstrated an improved pain-relieving effect, compared to the parent molecule (compound 5a [PMID: 31287314]) or CORM alone, or to the reference NSAID ibuprofen, in a rodent rheumatoid arthritis model [1]. |
