Immunopharmacology Comments |
IL4R is the common ligand binding subunit shared by the IL-4 receptors type I (receptor for IL-4) and type II (receptor for IL-4 and IL-13). A gain-of-function mutation in IL4R has been associated with atopy, enhanced B cell isotype switching from mu to epsilon and therefore elevated IgE levels [1]. This subunit is the molecular target of the investigational monoclonal antibody dupilumab, that is in clinical trial as a therapy for atopic allergic conditions and nasal polyposis. |
