pegaptanib is an approved drug (FDA (2004), EMA (2006))
Compound class:
Nucleic acid
Comment: Pegaptanib is a RNA oligonucleotide aptamer that acts as a vascular endothelial growth factor A antagonist, anti-angiogenic agent.
It is a 28-mer RNA oligonucleotide that is covalently linked to two branched 20-kD polyethylene glycol (PEG) chains. Pegaptanib binds to the 165 isoform of VEGFA. It is formulated as a sodium adduct. The basic nucleotide sequence has modified nucleotides and a 5' pentylamino linker that acts as the PEG anchor. |
