BioMarin Pharmaceutica/GlaxoSmithKline progressed drisapersen for DMD to phase 3 trial, but it failed to meet its primary endpoint, and evidence of toxicity (renal effects and thrombocytopenia [1]) was detected. This program of exon skipping oligonucleotides for DMD was subsequently terminated.
