Lipoxins are endogenous eicosanoids that are involved in the attenuation of inflammation. Lipoxin mimetics are therefore of pharmaceutical interest as potential non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents. Compound 1R-11 is one such mimetic that has potent anti-inflammatory effects in vitro and in vivo. These effects are dependent on 1R-11-mediated agonist action at the ALX/FPR2 receptor [1]. 1R-11 inhibits NFκB activation (IC50 1 nM in a luciferase reporter assay) and production of pro-inflammatory mediators (nM IC50 values in brackets): IFNγ (4.4), IL-6 (76.6) and IL-12p70 (5.1) [1]. |
