Inhibitor Comments
SL422 is a broad-spectrum inhibitor of MMP enzymes [15].
Immunopharmacology Comments
Elevated MMP13 expression correlates with inflammation in patients with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, suggesting a role for this protease in disease pathogenesis [14]. Inhibition of MMP13's preferential degradation of type II collagen and aggrecan is predicted to prevent/reduce the destruction of cartilage in rheumatoid arthritis [7,16].
