GtoPdb Ligand ID: 10050

Synonyms: α-KTx 23.1 [1]
Immunopharmacology Ligand
Comment: Vm24 is a 36 amino acid peptide toxin that was isolated from the venom of the Mexican scorpion Vaejovis mexicanus smithi, and which was subsequently produced by chemical synthesis [1]. It acts as a selective blocker of the Kv1.3 potassium channel. Vm24 can be used to study the biological processes that are modulated by Kv1.3 blockade and to help identify the pathways that are key to Kv1.3's participation in normal and pathological states.
