Lodoxamide is used in opthalmic solutions to treat occular inflammation (keratitis or conjunctivitis) caused by the allergic response.

Lodoxamide inhibits mast cell degranulation thereby reducing the release of histamine, leukotrienes, and other inflammatory mediators involved in hypersensitivity reactions. It also inhibits eosinophil chemotaxis.
