Lacosamide is used to treat partial-onset seizures in combination with other antiepileptic medicines and may be useful for treating diabetic neuropathic pain.

Lacosamide has been shown experimantally, to be effective in blocking inactivated voltage-gated Nav1.3-, Nav1.7-, and Nav1.8-type channels which are thought to play important roles in pain mechanisms [3].
