Comment: CJ-15,801 is a novel antibacterial, isolated from the fermentation broth of the fungus, Seimatosporium [2]. It is a structural analogue of pantothenic acid. The compound inhibits the growth of drug resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus and also has antimalarial activity [1].

CJ-15,801 demonstrates in vitro activity against the asexual blood stage of P. falciparum 3D7 (IC50 of 39 μM) in the presence of a physiological concentration of pantothenic acid (1 μM) [1].
