BTB (POZ) domain containing TFs: Introduction

The BTB/POZ transcription factor family has four members, BCL6, Kaiso (ZBTB33), HIC1, and PLZF (ZBTB16). They all also belong to the much larger C2H2-type zinc finger transcription factor family.

BCL6 is a molecular target for the development of novel drugs for the treatment of autoimmune diseases and B cell lymphomas. The Orphanet entry for BCL6 (ORPHA 158372) contains details of the genetic abnormalities in BCL6 that are associated with B cell and follicular lymphomas.
