CDK8 and CDK19 act as subunits of mammalian mediator complexes, which are essential regulators of RNA polymerase II transcriptional machinery [1]. CDK8 is also an oncogene and hence a molecular target for the developmet of novel anti-cancer therapeutics [2-4].
