Comment

PDE12 degrades 2-5As (2′,5′-linked oligoadenylates) that would bind to and activate RNaseL. This action negatively regulates the process of viral RNA cleavage, and antagonises the innate interferon response to viral pathogens. PDE12 inhibitors are proposed as a method to maintain the presence of 2-5As and activation of RNaseL, as a novel therapeutic antiviral mechanism [1-2].
